Attach Great Importance to the Localization of High-end Medical Devices

The proposal submitted by the former vice president of the Medical Association is "Comprehensively Promote the Upgrade, Innovation and Development of China's Medical Devices". This proposal puts forward a number of suggestions focusing on basic research of medical devices, construction of standard system, effective integration of production and demand, and encouragement of the development of domestic medical devices.

　　By the end of 2015, there were more than 14,000 medical device manufacturing enterprises in China. Among them, nearly 90% had a production scale below 20 million yuan, only more than 300 had a production scale exceeding 100 million yuan, and more than 2,600 enterprises were capable of producing relatively high-end products.

　　Relevant departments have strengthened top-level design, built a production-demand communication platform, promoted interaction and exchange among industry, universities, research institutes and medical institutions, and boosted scientific and technological breakthroughs, which has enabled a number of core equipment and key components to be localized, and effectively increased the market share of some domestic medical devices. Meanwhile, efforts have been made to strengthen basic and important engineering technology research in the industry, and step up the construction of research and service capabilities for industrial application engineering technologies, including special manufacturing equipment, testing equipment, process technology, reliability research and stability research required for mass production of medical devices.
